Gracias adiós
Projecto Linguística Quetzalteco has been such a good schooling experience for me. It has been an intense two weeks but I've managed to cram a lot into my feeble brain that wasn't there before. Not that I can really have a conversation with anyone in Spanish. But I can grope my way through better than I could before. I had meant to be here for 4 weeks, but alas, that dreaded pandemic is forcing me to cut it short at 2 weeks. Already, Guatemala has canceled all incoming flights from the US and I anticipate that the US will return the favor to Guatemala in the very near future. And so, zoom zoom, Melody helped me from the US to change my ticket and I will be leaving Xela tomorrow morning. Hopefully, before too long, I will be able to return sometime, with Melody. My home-stay mom told me a funny story which resonated with the way I hear things here. She said people here often say "gracias a Dios", meaning "thanks to God."
